For most people, graduation is an exciting day - the culmination of years of hard work. My graduation day... was not.
I
remember that weekend two years ago. Family and friends had flown in
from across the country to watch our class walk across that stage. But
like everyone else in my graduating class, I had watched the economy
turn from bad to worse my senior year. We graduates had degrees, but
very limited prospects. Numerous applications had not panned out and I
knew that the next day, when my lease ended, I would no longer have a
place...

Wooden Bowls
Posted on 10:53 AM by arindam
A frail old man lived with his son, his daughter-in-law, and his
four-year-old grandson. His eyes were blurry, his hands trembled, and
his step faltered. The family would eat together nightly at the
dinner table. But the elderly grandfather's shaky hands and failing
sight made eating rather difficult. Peas rolled off his spoon, drooping
to the floor. When he grasped his glass of milk, it often spilled
clumsily at the tablecloth. With this happening almost every night, the son and daughter-in-law became irritated with the mess."We must do something...

Sharpen your skills

Once there was a group of men - a young hot-blooded, strong chap and a
big number of old folks, doing timber job (Wood cutting) in a jungle.
This young chap is very hard working. He always continues to work
through his break time and complains that those old folks were wasting
time, taking break few times a day to drink and chat.
The first day, the young woodcutter brought fifteen (15) trees.
"Congratulations," the boss said, "Carry on with your work!" Highly

Value

Value-A
well known speaker started off his seminar by holding up a $20 bill. In
the room of 200, he asked, "Who would like this $20 bill?"
Hands started going up.
He said, "I am going to give this $20 to one of you but first, let me do this." He proceeded to crumple the dollar bill up.
He then asked, "Who still wants it?"Still the hands were up in the air.
"Well," he replied, "What if I do this?" And he dropped it on the ground and started to grind it into the floor with his shoe.
He picked it up, now all crumpled and dirty. "Now who...

Imagine
there is a bank, which credits your account each morning with Rs
86,400, carries over no balance from day to day, allows you to keep no
cash balance, and every evening cancels whatever part of the amount you
had failed to use during the day. What would you do? Draw out every
pence, of course!Well, everyone has such a bank. Its name is Time.Every morning, it credits you with 86,400 seconds. Every night it writes off, as lost, whatever of this you have failed
to invest to good purpose. It carries over no balance. It allows no...

Futuristic Device
Posted on 4:05 AM by arindam
A nice and creative activity...
Students will imagine a device which is useful in finding ways, locating a place, checking positions etc....
We can see amazing creations and imaginations. I did this activity with MYP 3 students.
The Statement of inquiry can be
"Adapting the existing technologies and
infusing it with new ideas produces a new technology with better prospects and
for different categories of people."
You all can try...
Thanks ...
